Tuna Festival 2010 moved to Sept 18-26

GenSan’s Tuna Festival this year and the city’s 42nd City Charter Anniversary celebration has been moved to September 18-26 from its original date, Sept. 1-5, 2010.

According to Mr. Orman Manansala, Festival Director, this is to give way to the request of participants to the Street Dancing Competition.

He pointed out that Street Dancing Competition is the highlight of the festival and without it the celebration would be greatly affected.

Manansala also disclosed that there are a number of new activities added such as the Cooking Showdown and Search for Mr. GenSan.

He added that the theme this year is, “Go Global GenSan: We Are Ready for the World.”

Other activities are the following:

Tuna Exhibit; Tuna Congress; Karagatan Awards; GenSan Pop Idol; Bancarera; Ginang Bariles; Motocross Competition; ASAP Sessionistas Live in GenSan; Mountainbike Challenge;

Beach Volleyball; Skim Boarding Competition; Cheer Dance Competition; Search for Mr. GenSan and Miss GenSan; Fish Dance Competition; Job Fair; Float Parade Competition; Splash in the Sky.

Opening Ceremonies is on Sept. 20 while the Closing Ceremonies is on Sept. 26.

*Continuing Activities:  Tinda-tinda sa Oval Plaza, Fiesta Carnival, and Garden Show.

On Sept. 5, 2010 to mark the Charter Day Anniversary, activities starts with a Holy Mass followed by the Ecumenical Services, Charter Day Program and the Almusal Alay sa Kapwa.  For more info on the sked, check out GenSan News Online Mag. (CPIO/JP Aponesto)
