GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Hon. City Mayor Darlene Magnolia Antonino-Custodio formally launched and officially turned over the homepage of the GSC Police Office to City Director, PSSupt. Atty. Cedrick Train. CEO VI in a simple ceremony at the Conference Room of GSCPO located in the compound of Camp Fermin G. Lira on December 28, 2011.

The official webpage which can be accessed at www.gscpo.gensantos.org was created and developed by the staff of the City Mayor’s Office – SHEEP – Computer Literacy Program.

The same group also conducted a Web and Video Blog Training to selected police officers last September 20, 2011 at the City Public Library and on December 8-16, 2011 at the Conference Room of GSCPO. The training was handled by Jo Anne Pasco, Vanessa Eronico and Arjay Gestosani and assisted by some CMO-CLP trainers.

The series of blog trainings paved the way for the conceptualization of the webpage. The  “blog within a blog” concept where all content pages of the site is a blog in itself was the basis for the design. This approach creates a user independence and makes browsing faster. In the end, Police bloggers can modify automatically both the design and content of their pages.

The launching was attended by officials of GSCPO and staff from the City Mayor’s Office SHEEP Computer Literacy Program (CMO-CLP).

A new “Lupang Hinirang” video presentation was specially created for the launching wherein the men and women in uniform performed as main actors. Niño Solis and Raymond Lopez, earlier took video footages during one of the flag raising ceremonies of the police office. Solis and Lopez co-produced and co-directed the video.

The “Police Prayer“ was recreated by Josephine Pilapil, remixed with a new music background and a voice recording by Michael Peligro. The text was based on the existing prayer provided by the Philippine National Police Headquarters. An audio visual presentation of GSCPO focusing on the Priority Impact Projects was conceptualized and designed by Luz Miag-ao.

Certificates of completion for the training on “Web and Video Blogging” conducted on September 20, 2011 and December 8-16, 2011 were handed by Mayor Antonino-Custodio assisted by PSSupt. Train, and the trainers from CMO-CLP headed by Jo Anne Pasco, Vanessa Eronico and Arjay Gestosani. The certificates were given to all officers who completed the training.

The event was formally closed after PSSupt Train accepted the symbolic globe and delivered his closing remarks. The handicraft globe which was designed by Amelia Barroga, represented the official GSCPO webpage.

Viewing of the content pages per branch, station and project followed.

People involved in the GSCPO web development and launching, including program invitation and certificates were prepared by Marianne Anas, Josephine Pilapil and Alma Villanueva. All other staff involved came from the City Mayor’s Office SHEEP Computer Literacy Program.

The creators of the webpages are hoping that posting and uploading of articles and pictures do not end at the turn-over and launching ceremony. Hopefully, the new police bloggers can utilize their own website fully to showcase their activities, especially the priority impact projects of the Police Office
